First lid

The initial design for the lid is being printed. Currently, the lid has a massive hole in the top so it will print faster and so that I can see how all the wiring will be once it is on top. There are holes for nuts and bolts but I have yet to get the right dimensions for those yet so it is more of an estimate. So far it is looking very good.

First Iteration

I am very excited that the first prototype of the housing for all the electronics has been printed. I currently do not have all necessary electronics so I built the prototype for what electronics I did have and the fit is very good. There are still changes to be made but this is a big first step especially since it worked very well.

Introduction

The aim of my current project is to design a cheap yet effective way of sensing and mapping potholes through the use of Google Maps, Arduino, and custom 3D printed cases. The sensors I plan on using to detect the potholes are a modified laser range finder, an ultrasonic sensor, and a GPS unit. I also plan to use a small bluetooth module in order to send data to a phone, then from the phone, to an application on a computer, which will map where the pothole is located using the GPS as well as others. The ultimate goal is to have created a more efficient way of detecting which streets need repaved in order to keep the streets safe.
